Phantasy Star Portable sells 200K on first day



Filed under: Phantasy Star It looks like Japan has another hit PSP game. Phantasy Star Portable went on sale yesterday in Japan with 400,000 units shipped and managed to get over 217,000 copies into the hands of anxious gamers. Interestingly enough, PSP sold more copies on day one than other huge titles like Soulcalibur IV which sold 147,000 (combined PS3/360 sales). We had no doubt that PSP would be successful, especially since it is the perfect game to market to the Monster Hunter crowd

Unlike the debut trailer for TrackMania DS, this one actually has some gameplay footage as well as a look at the track editor, multiplayer, and sharing capabilities. I wasnt too sure about how the game would look after seeing the new screenshots, but when its in motion, it looks plenty good for a DS racing game that isnt so much about cutting edge graphics as it is crazy tracks and driving as fast as you possibly can.
